Dear C-section Mama,

You may be feeling cheated and like you missed your birth

You need to understand that this is not tied to your worth

The events that led to this surgery may not have been your decision

You may be reminded of this every time you feel pain in your incision

You may even want to cry or punch something and scream

You might just feel like you are living in some kind of awful dream

Thinking you somehow failed your baby may be something that you fear

If that’s the case for you, then there’s something you need to hear

Abdominal birth is still a birth with some surgery to help it along

You now know that people calling it the easy way out were misinformed and wrong

Oh and recovery, recovery was rough

I bet you didn’t realize that you were quite so tough!

So when you look back at this picture and notice the big blue drape

I hope now instead you can see it as a cape 🦸🏻‍♀️
